Venus, Mars and Cupid (detail), c.1635
Rubens & Women at Dulwich Picture Gallery (until Jan 28) features over 40 paintings and drawings from throughout the Flemish artist’s career, challenging the notion that he painted only one type of woman and providing instead a more nuanced view of the important place women occupied in his world. From female patrons to family members to his great loves, the exhibition includes masterpieces from international and private collections, many of which are appearing in the UK for the first time.
