Cindy Sherman, 'Untitled Film Still #58'

Cindy Sherman: Early Works at the Museum of Cycladic Art (until Nov 4) is the American photographer’s first solo exhibition in Greece. Bringing together over 100 works, it offers a comprehensive view into her ground-breaking and influential early series exploring how women are imaged in popular culture, including some of her best known work such as Untitled Film Stills (1977–1980), Rear Screen Projections (1980), Centerfolds (1981) and Color Studies (1982). Through these photographs the exhibition questions how the representation of women has evolved over time, how societal expectations have been contested and how art can challenge cultural perceptions.
