Featuring a wide selection of projects made between 1966 and 1992, Nancy Holt: Inside Out at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (or MACBA, to use its Spanish acronym) is the first major European survey of the legacy of an artist whose spatial and visual poetry invites us to recognise the hidden systems which form our means of perceiving the world. An innovator of site-specific installations and the moving image, Holt (1938-2014) posed questions on how we might understand our place in the world. The exhibition comprises a major selection of work across her artistic practice, including concrete poetry, sound pieces, photography, film, video, sculpture, installations, land art, architectural interventions, artist’s books and sketches.
