Colour and Light: The Legacy of Impressionism at the recently refurbished Ateneum (Oct 20-Feb 25, 2024) comprises Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist art from the period 1860 to 1916 and includes works by top names such as Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley. These are side by side with artists from the heyday of Finnish Colourism (1906-1916), when Finnish art shifted towards a brighter palette and new subject matter, as depictions of nature gave way to the comforts of middle class life, parks, sunbathing and nudity. ateneum.fi
