Helen Levitt: In the Street at the Photographers’ Gallery (UNTIL Feb 13, 2022) is a retrospective spanning 50 years of work by the influential American street photographer. Levitt (1913–2009) spent decades documenting local communities in her native New York, capturing everyday city life in neighbourhoods such as the Lower East Side, the Bronx and Spanish Harlem. She was also an early proponent of avant-garde filmmaking.
