Michelangelo and Beyond at the Albertina (until Jan 14) explores how the master of the Renaissance made a lasting impression 500 years ago and how following generations have approached this template since. Although his art and ideals are deeply rooted in the attitudes of the time, Michelangelo is one of a handful of artists whose fame has been unwavering for centuries, and the impact of his work continues to the present day, reviving historic ideals of the human, particularly male, body. The exhibition also traces how depictions of the body have evolved through the work of artists such as Raphael, Rembrandt, Rubens, Klimt and Schiele. albertina.at
